Every time a friend takes a video of me foiling I feel like I learn so much about my poor form - whether it be pumping or my stance too back-footed / etc. Even just posting a video on this forum and getting feedback from the community has been amazingly helpful.
That said, I’m wondering if anyone has had success with a specific foil camp or instructor - I’m happy to spend the money and travel if it will help me build a better foundation for prone foiling.
Ideally looking for something private or semi private so I can get the most out of my time.
If you can get video of yourself…Coach Casey is a really great resource…even the most basic 3 month package has weekly reviews by James himself and he gives extensive analysis and feedback on videos that members post with their questions (and you can be there live for the weekly session as a member).
I actually learn a ton from watching the weekly sessions even if I don’t have anything in the mix…
The video camps can be very helpful, especially
If the coach has a really good eye for what to improve. Hard to be the camera angles of the guys doing it everyday.
@misterbennetts has a camp coming up on Namotu island. Last I saw there was a couple spots left. You won’t find a better location or group of guys to help you progress.
You will get so much time on foil, its almost impossible not to improve a bunch.
I would highly recommend Coach Casey. I did not take any lessons from Coach Casey, but a friend did and I watched his hour long one on one video with Coach Casey, where he had his videos analyzed. Since I was making the exact same mistakes, Casey’s video analysis Helped me almost as much as me taking the class myself.
I recently bought a refurbished solo shot 3 for $1200 with international postage from their website. Mainly to improve my pumping. Might be worth looking at
