Surf youtube videos and clips

Thread for youtube clips

Amos released a bunch of videos, this one with Zane Westwood is really good, especially the last 40second flow section.

Interesting how the tuning is evolving for these three. Adam’s back foot is perfectly on top of the centerline of the mast and has been for a very long time with Zane’s even a little more forward of the mast and more so on the 90 and 110 it seems. Alex’s foot the same position as adam’s.

You can contrast the performance differences observed in critical sections to the seesaw stance where the back foot is definitely at a little behind the centerline of the mast and looks way more pitch nervous.

Great dw video. South of France increasingly appealing for a summer foil trip… Also interesting to see where F-one went with their dw boards, similar to something I saw recently with the back 1/3 cutaway.

Why most of these clips are from Aussies probably boils down to economics but here are 2 more that I thought were very good, especially the first one - amazingly controlled turns in critical waves.

Some cool clips from the Crozon foil festival, really like the sequence of turns at 1:25, Keoni pro surfer turned foiler, further proving my theory that your upper limit of prone foiling is determined by how good you are at surfing (with rare exceptions)

Surf looked super fun. The dock start races looked surprisingly fun too. Would be fun to try that.

Yeah the surf was amazing, possibly the best waves I’ve ever proned. Just don’t own a surf foil anymore. Fail!

The whole event was so well run and just a good time. Only pity was about the downwind not getting enough wind, but it was still interesting.

Dockstart was hilarious and way more entertaining than I would have guessed. Super funny how even the best were struggling with consistency as everyone was pushing the smallest foil. Big crowd, crazy tight racing and really fun to participate!

I’ll be going next year without doubt

Do a writeup on your site. There’s a huge lack of content around these contests. The Wing Foiling is going to take off just because GKA provides a webcast of the events. We need Josh Ku to go to all events so that at least he does a vlog style recap.

If I was an up and comer in the foil world I would go into media and not try to be a pro rider. Be the guy that documents it all and get brought around the world to do it.

here is a draft, but yes agree it needs exposure as it was very good. I think it is oversubscribed anyway, at least seems like they hold a good portion of the entries for the internationals

Honestly, video and audio is the way, Josh’s stuff is great, I was surprised I saw very minimal VLOG material going on, I thought it would be wall to wall selfie cams. But yes the WSL commentators seem to have the right mix of talentless and camera readiness that gets them flown about.

I like that this thread is trending again. Can never have enough Eric Geiselman videos, great study material for surf style.

A very compelling 4 minute argument in favour of pushing through with SUP DW so that you can also have fun in tiny surf
