Fone sk8 cheaper alternative?

Hello im considering moving my quiver to another brand im currently riding ::

  • 1400 sevens seas v1 i enjoy it in wing but it not good for surf foiling, it’s slow doesnt have a lot of pump power regarding to it’s surface , require a top plate shim or too nose down if not on a fone board
  • sk8 950 i really like it but i cannot use it on too small wave prone foiling

Issue is i have an old gong surf foil board, i noticed recently i could ride the sk8 950 without top plate shim on my wing board if it has enough us box lenght, which is not the case for my gong surf foil board =( , fone board as really expensive and doesnt retain much used value , new model are pretty cool but way too pricey 1600 euros for a surf foil board it’s crazy expensive and yet the us box are ultra small which is probably gonna screw me if i want to change brand and i get a fone board.

Has any of you tested the sk8 and found kind off cheaper alternative that is easy plug and play ?
( Mast must have an alumium option )

Code 1300S and 980S ?
You can get a alu mast with Kparts

AFS Enduro 1300 and 900
You can also get a alu mast with Kparts
Or the HR for AFS which is cheap

For both option, you will have a lot of pump with the big size, and the small size is still very user friendly for surfing

Cheaper than that, you can take a look at the Takoon Flare.

I’ve never ridden the sk8(id like to). I find my north setup to be solid and well priced with an aluminum mast option. I ride the 930 as an everything foil and I find it has a really low stall and great turning at my 200 lbs. I use it for DW, surf, and wing in slow east coast short period slop.

Keep an eye out for sales. The V2 Sk8 has just been released and some places are discounting the originals.

well since i have the 950 i was wondering if getting a bigger sk8 was an option to replace the seven seas 1400 , like a 1150 sk8.

Budget is around 1000 euros less than more =)
still a bit too much for the first two i didnt checked the alu mast of kpart tho .
I checked the hr yep seem to be a good option but a bit high for my budget .

Flare seem something more affordable budget wise, for sure but i have some beef with takoon aftersales that didnt cared about issue i had on my wing while it was in warranty tho they fixed the first issue and could offer me a new wing for the second since they were clearing their inventory …

ps: i checked kpart and seem a really solid option only issue is buying adapter and a lot of them haha. =)

Why not just go with gong? Nothing wrong with gong

thinking about it but wanted some input from people who tested both had and could compare with the gong range, i guess the fluid might be the closest or the ypra surf to the sk8 maybe ? I personnaly tried the curve h v3 and it’s smooth and gentle doesnt have the nervosity , manoeuvrability and responsiveness at all of the sk8.

I just bought the 1150 sk8 to supplement my 750 sk8 and I love it so much. I didn’t even buy a new tail. I can dock start it for pump foiling (the 1150 that is lol). Feel free to message me about it.

Not cheaper but did you consider the EagleX 1000 to replace your SS1400? that’s what I did and its a great foil. It works fine with the xxs 200 monoblock for surf and wing if you have that already

I’ve found a used sk8 1150 got lucky on this one there was only 2 in france and one of them just poped nearby while i was looking ,
thought of the eagle x 1000 i guess the bottom range is not as good as the 7s 1400 how would you compare it against each other?
