Integrated masts holding water

Hey crew! Do most integrated masts for foil assist retain water? I have a Manta foils aluminum integrated mast (20 cm motor placement) with a unifoil adapter that I use with my manta takeoff flow. Overall I really like it, it has very low drag and fun to use in the surf. However, It seems no matter what I try I still get water in the mast which of course adds weight. Any tips or thoughts? Or is it not really a big deal? Much appreciated

Just got my Cedrus integrated mast and yes can confirm the mast takes on water. Can actually hear it sloshing up and down after a session if I tilt the mast upside down and back up. Spoke to Kyle from Cedrus - he confirmed this is normal, all integrated masts have water inside. and the interior of the Cedrus mast is fully anodized, and the water will eventually drain out through the cable outlet at the bottom of the mast. Water drains out also through the puck.

spend all that money and take on sea water? no thank you.

was not aware that’s an acceptable industry standard.

If anyone is to blame, it’s the cable (not the mast).

The challenge is the cable. If you seal the cable in the construction then you can never change a failed cable. The cable has 3 splices to allow both connectors to be mated. Think about 5 or 10 years of use and it is possible they fail. Since you are not dealing with dissimilar metals in the interior of the mast the likelihood of corrosion is minimal as long as basic maintenance is adhered to. Rinse with fresh water every time in salt is what is required and recommended. Remember the more simple in saltwater the less maintenance i.e. a boat is a lot of work a paddle board is not. Choose wisely :rofl::rofl:
