Saw this thread on cab gear and thought I’d jump on
just got back from a trip to Boa Vista - Sal Rei. If you don’t know the spot there’s a reef break that’s cross shore about a mile from the launch spot with big channels either side so a great place for waves riding.
Took my 700, 850 and 1050
But also the AFS Enduro (900 and 700 and had a go on the silk 1050 and 850)
A big group of mixed abilities - and plenty of cross demoing.
Winds 4m and 3m (I’m 75kg on a 72 code)
My view was the AFS kit has a higher stall speed, but more directional stability giving it a locked in feel on the wave (and in a straight line) but the Cabrinha had more glide side for size.
Others who tried my set up agreed with the glide, and the locked in feel describing the Cabs as “waggly” (preferring the silk) the same feeling i like as around.
Riding the two back to back the low stall speed made the Can easy to slow down if you miss time your turn before a wave (too early)
The extra locked in feeling allowed the enduro to be ridden more over powered and catch the wave up if you were too late.
Once riding the cab feels more through about - if anything the v2 180 tail could be smaller (I’m wondering about cutting one down or getting the mono-block and chop shop)
Anyone done any chopping experiments?
All in all I’m still pretty happy with the Cab set ups - on the 74 or 84 mast. A bit more through about feel would be nice though. (Extra waggly!)
