San Francisco June wing/prone

I’ve got a June wedding to go to in Santa Rosa and I’m considering bringing wing/prone gear or maybe just my gravel bike.

What kind of conditions could I expect? What are the good spots etc? Is crissy field the play?

Crissy Field is such a great vibe. I was there without my wing gear but was so wishing I had it.

Crissy will be very consistent in June and it’s definitely worth a wing under the bridge just to do it.

Bolinas can have good prone conditions and there are other beachbreaks available in the area, salmon creek in Bodega bay (usually too big to foil, very open to any NW swell) and Stinson beach. Winging in bodega bay or tomales bay if there’s NW wind

3.0 & 4.0 wing will cover you most of the time

Crissy will be great… Sherman also great. I would expect to ride a 4m at both. Proning at Bolinas is more challenging than sup, but its more of a dice roll whether it will be on.

Treasure Island will be slightly stronger than Crissy, but is a very few that frequent it, so you need to be self reliant and carrying VHF.

In my opinion there is nowhere good to go prone in the entire SF bay area and north coastal area. On just the right day at the right place with the right tide, it can be great. But generally you’ll never be able to hit it right coming to visit and it is most likely going to really suck for prone. Winging and downwinding is on fire though, bring your gear

Thanks for the replies! I’m stoked to be headed that way! Im thinking I’ll get both the bike and the foil setup packed and pull the trigger at the last second based the wind forecast!

The bike is a sure bet to get moving and have a little independence whenever wherever but winging crissy field and maybe scoring that wave under the bridge that I see on Clay Island would be worth it if the forecast (and logistics and my wife’s trip expectations) can line up (I think the planets might have to line up too)

As I dial in flights and some of my logistics I might jump back in to consult on tides, forecast, etc.

US Wingfoil National Championship is June 20-22 at Crissy if you wanna try your hand at racing!!
