Smik Pwing board

Had a fang on this 6 x 22 x 106l pwing proto this week. Very very impressed ordered one straight away. Has the stability and ease of start like my 7 10 x 19 x 110l DW board but turns like my 5 10 x 20 x 85l wing board when on a runner. In a smaller size would be an epic wing board.

Hi Hilly, what’s your feedback after few months on it? Anything you’d change in terms of shape? Any insights would be appreciated.

Bit of a clearance sale on those at the moment which makes them very appealing. That big fat tail is not the sexiest flowy eye candy, but volume has to be put somewhere…

Any details on thickness? I reached out to smik but didn’t get a reply.

I took a plunge and got this same board 6 x 22 x 106l for my 6’2x100+kgs

I didn’t get to use it for parawing yet due to the sea breezes disappearing, but I had 3 wing sessions in subperfect conditions and it works pretty well so far. Compared to the miniDart 100l, I’ve gained some stability which will always be welcome in the pre-takeoff, slogging stages. Did I lose some of the early takeoff ability? I’m not too sure. Seems to pump well on foil, bounces very well after touch downs and once on flight, the board feels actually more balanced, with less swing weight. Big nose compensated by a big butt kind of thing. From the rider’s perspective, the board doesn’t look as chunky or disgraceful as it does when looked sideways. Not that I’d need to watch my feet much while riding because the recessed cockpit is great in terms of positional feel. Obviously not much wiggle room to compensate a wrong foil position, but once the foil’s spot on in its tracks, the rear and front bumps provide a good locked in feedback.
Those boxy rails also make it pretty secure to grip when carrying the board underarm, compared to the rounder ones on the axis that always felt like they’d slip away from my fingers after a big session. I still miss the convenience of a handle though, but I understand why they don’t put them. Will those boxy rails become an issue in hard turns? Not too sure, and I don’t even know if I’m pushing hard enough to get in those kinds of situations.

I’m sure it will grow on me, but very pleased so far. At 1200NZD, that was an absolute steal.
