Unifoil Hyper as first surf foil set up

Hi,

I have a friend who wants to get his first foil gear to start surf foiling. He found a great deal on a Hyper foil, but is it a good front wing to start surf foiling?

I read a lot of positive reviews about this wing for wing foiling, but not much for surf foiling.

Possibly a little on the advanced side but if the deals really good (what is it?) I’d say go for it. What size and their weight though?

And whether it’s Hyper or Hyper2. H1 in larger sizes has low stall speed - 190 or 210 definitely works for learning. 170 possible too and 150 if he’s lightweight. No experience with H2.

There is not much info in selling post, but here is a picture of the pack and what it contains for 700 euros:

  • 2 front wings: the Hyper 210 (1500cm²) and the Hyper 150 (900cm²)
  • Rear fuselage allowing 2 rear stabilizer options: the Carver 16’’ and the Progression 13.5
  • 75 cm Unifoil Katana carbon mast
  • 65 cm aluminum mast

I think my friend is around 178cm and 75kg, but athletic and good surfer

Buy it. Good starter pack. Good price.

Note that it looks like that is the old mast, not the thicker Katana.

That is hyper v1. The only valuable components in this package are the Katana mast and the progression tail.

depending on conditions 210 may be too big and 150 too small. quite the gap there.

Are the Hyper v.1 so bad ?

I think he will mainly use the 210 for a while, the time for him to learn a good pumping, then he could buy a progression, or try the 150.

good starter setup, the mast is not a katana, but the alu mast will work better, and the package is good to get started and can be replaced incrementally
