I think its more just that brands are focusing on Downwind discipline, and these 10+ AR foils really do make downwinding easier vs the big slow “easy to ride” foils.
Foil designs have just become more user friendly, an athletic beginner can learn on some of the newest 9.5AR foils. The glide difference is quite noticeable going back to the 10.1AR Lift 150X from the 110X at 13.1AR. Lift seems to prioritize maneuverability and both of these wings turn extremely easily (same span roughly). The 110 though requires a lot more attention and energy input and sometimes the 150 is just too big. This 130 should be just about perfect and an 11.7AR seems like a great compromise.
Lift already made two great mid aspect foils years ago ( ha170 and the 150surf v2 ).
They both turn well and pump decent. Not sure why they would revisit the past when they can lead us into the future.
Exactly, years ago. The 170 is a dog compared to the 150HA and the 150 surf v2 is old. It’s time for a 135 mid aspect for “shallow water” exploration, I mean surfing waves lol
Cheers
I guess you have to ask yourself. Does this look like it was done on a 130x? ![]()
Probably. He’s also young, light and one of the best in the world. Most of us will never be at that level but we can try!
I’m 205lbs and the 150HAX is really all I’ve been riding for the past 6 months. Lappy prone 2-3ft days, the occasional tow out the back at the shoal, and full on sideways shore runner days. I also own a 150 Surf V2. The 150 Surf is very fun, but it’s collecting dust because of the 150HAX’s versatility for my East Coast scenario. I’ve been waiting for the 130HAX for about a year as a step up in prone performance. If it’s anything like how I imagine it, it will be one of the best prone options out there for the 180lbs+ crowd. Matt from Lift recently said if he were to use one wing for everything, it would be the 130HAX. Sounds promising to me!
I currently have the 150 and 120 and wondering if I should flog them both for the 130x? I’m only Winging in small surf at this stage. I see too much cross over with either combo.
Foil performance aside, $300AUD additional for a name on the side is a bit unreasonable.
Seeking feedback on my conundrum….
Materials are much improved - better/stiffer HM carbon. Compare to other high end HM layup front wings (eg, F-one) and these things are actually a bargain.
An 800cm2 F-one EagleX is $1,250. Compared to the Lift 130X (830cm2) at $975 (USD).
Using the generally accepted fundamentals of Foil Math, that means you’re actually saving money and should absolutely buy buy buy!

I’m gonna use that first of next month.
From an european point of view, a FOne Eagle X 800 is 1059€ while the Lift 130HAX is 1175€.
I already ordered both 130 and 110 ![]()
Hey everyone,
I wanted to jump in and discuss the new Florence Lift 130X, 110X, and the new 21 tailwing. I’ve had the 110 for a while and recently got my hands on the 130 for about a week. As a Lift Team rider with experience on Axis, Uni, and Signature over the years, I can confidently say that the new 130 is insane! It is almost as easy to pop up as the 150HAX and almost as fast as the 110HAX.
I’m achieving splits that are close to my 110 times (within 0.5 mph), yet the wing is so much easier to lift and ride. It’s significantly faster than both the 150 and the 120, and it’s much less twitchy compared to the 110 v1 or v2, making it an all-around fantastic wing. The Maliko Run ends with a 1/4 mile flat water pump, and the 130 gets me through that with ease. I track my heart rate on every run, and my first time on the 130, I had the lowest heart rate I’ve had this year and completed it in 34 minutes—about 2 minutes off my best 110 run ever, and about 4 minutes faster than my average 150 run. VERY excited about this wing.
I’ve run it with the 20 carve tail and the new Florence 21. The new tail and the new carbon allow you to ride really high in the water column with control. It’s a great wing.
The Florence 110X is much more controlled and is allowing most of us to hit higher top speeds because of the great control. The new carbon and the slightly new profile make it much more manageable. I’m planning to put together a YouTube video on both wings tomorrow to share more details soon. Hope this helps!
Thanks for the info shep. Share the video on here when it’s up!
Great info - Thanks!
All great info, thanks but can all you guys that have been riding these new 110/130’s tell us if the rumors of new Surf V3 are true?
Has anyone been winging in the surf on the 130?
My wild guess will be a Lift 120 SURF…
Hey Shep, what mast you running for DW? Dan
If you ordered it through lift’s website I would bet they’d be willing to get you some for a fair price?
They have always come with the 3 foils I’ve gotten from them…
In a pinch you can get m6 x 30mm screws for the mast from any hardware store - its hard to find the same grade of stainless sometimes though.
